On November 2, 1930, Ras Tafari Makonnen was crowned Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia. The coronation, which took place in Addis Ababa, established him as "King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah". For Rastafarians, this event is a cornerstone of their faith, as they believe it fulfilled biblical prophecy and identified Haile Selassie I as the returning Messiah (Jah).
