Shemini Atzeret, meaning "Eighth Day of Assembly," is a Jewish holiday observed on the 22nd day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei, directly following the seven-day festival of Sukkot. It is considered a distinct holiday from Sukkot, yet is intimately connected to it, marking a day of unique spiritual significance where focus shifts from the universal to the personal relationship with God. In Israel and Reform Judaism, it is celebrated on the same day as Simchat Torah, while outside of Israel, Simchat Torah is observed on the following day.
