Ganesh Chaturthi is a major Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity known as the remover of obstacles, god of wisdom, and prosperity. Celebrated in August or September, the festival involves installing clay images of Ganesha, performing rituals and prayers, offering sweets, and concludes with a procession where these images, called murtis, are immersed in water, symbolizing Ganesha's return to Mount Kailash.
